Job Documentation – Code Enforcement
Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City, including, but not limited to, Construction Practice
regulations, Zoning Ordinances, and the City’s nuisance provisions.
Write letters, emails and other correspondence related to notices of violation and other code
enforcement requirements
Investigate and remedy complaints received from citizens, officials and City employees relating
to code violations.
Provide customer service by addressing citizens’ questions and concerns pertaining to code
issues.
Respond to complaints and issue verbal warnings, written warnings and summons for code
violations.
Perform field inspections and ascertain compliance with ordinances, regulations, and proposed
plans.
Proactively communicate with property owners and general contractors of construction
projects in the City to educate them on the City’s rules and regulations.
Monitor the progress and status of building permit applications.
Inspect construction projects in the City for building and other required permits.
Issue “stop work orders” for construction projects operating without permits or that are
violating Municipal ordinances.
Prepare reports documenting investigative work performed.
Enter reports and data into police and code enforcement software systems.
Make recommendations on revisions to City Code requirements.
Prepare and document code violations for court cases. Testify in court as a witness or
complainant.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
