This election is for authorizing the 1% sales tax to be used to pay and secure repayment of bonds.
IMPORTANT! NO NEW SALES TAX OR PROPERTY TAX INCREASE!!
What is being proposed???
- These bonds will be issued from the same 1% sales tax that is currently existing, there is no additional sales tax that will be issued for the proposal.
- The existing 1% sales tax directs .75% to repaying existing sewer improvement bond debt and .25% to water/sewer services.
- Without this proposal to restructure the existing bonds using the existing 1% sales tax, the city would have to substantially increase the water and sewer rates in order to finance necessary water and sewer projects. Without this bond restructuring proposal, the city would also have to consider various proposals to raise revenues through tax increases in order to finance the construction of the new fire station.
