Building Permit Fees

The City of Tontitown determines the valuation of a structure using the ICC Building Valuation Data Table. The valuation table is updated semiannually to provide an up-to-date "average" construction cost per square foot.

A copy of the table is available HERE. Tontitown uses column IA of this table for building cost estimates.

Example: 5000 SF Business office Type I-A, unprotected construction. Using the valuation Data (International Code Council), find group (Business) in the left hand column and follow that across to Type of Construction I-A to find that the minimum cost per Esq. for a Business Occupancy and Construction type IA is $164.76 per Sq.ft. (example shows effective rate as of February 2011)

To arrive at your permit fee and review fee we will be using a standard square foot valuation based on Occupancy Group of your proposed building and type of construction. If you are seeking a modeling permit the fee will be based on one-third the ICC table valuation.

The Tontitown Building Inspection Department also charges a Plan review Fee.

The plan review fee shall be equal to one-half of the building permit fee. This plan review fee is in addition to the building permit fee.

The building permit and plan review fees shall be paid at the time of issuance of the building permit.
